The back walls are curved and were constructed of steel that was rolled in house. Each side broke into six pieces. Rough cut planks were then teked on. The trees were luan cut outs that were applied to the back of the planking.

There were two deck surfaces with cobblestone being the main surface primarily surrounding the revolve. The cobble stones are homasote that were split in the shop and get smaller as you get closer to the revolve. Downstage rough cut planking and luan planking was used.

| The boat was built by the props department and the mermaid was carved by the scenics. |

During the show one of the actresses flew in a swing. Originally the swing was to be loaded off stage, tracked onstage and then to fly in. However because the flyspace was too tight that was cut and then the swing just flew in, she got on, flew out, then back in when she was done. This is me in the swing to the left testing it.

The main feature in this show was the 22' diameter turntable. Starting up from the stage floor we built a spider that had all our casters mounted to it. This allowed us to run any mechanics on the floor as well as created a level deck to spin the table on.
| The table itself is constructed in a dual plywood layer technique. Basically each pie wedge was cut twice. The bottom layer was offset from the top and routed to a smaller diamter to accept a cable wrap. A 4" ring was routed for the bottom layer just to keep the cable wrap from falling off. |

The turntable was cable wrapped and powered by a 3 horse winch that was downstairs in the trap room. A portion of the trapped stage was removed and using sheaves we turned the cable to get downstairs.
| The giant mound on the turntable started out looking like what you see to your right. |

The finished product is what you see below. After the carving was done. Rafia grass was glued down to each of the three sections this traveled in.
