This show was the first of the 2003 season.   The build for this show was about  two and half weeks.
The painting to the left was a muslin cover Broadway flat.
The horse was a wagon unit that rolled on from SR.  It stored in the upper shop which is adjacent to the theatre.  There was a steel wagon behind this unit that allowed an actor to climb a ladder and be positioned where the head would be on the painting.  The horse itself was a series of Broadway flats that bolted to the wagon.
There were numerous other flying signs that were in and around the set.  One of the signs had a solenoid that when triggered would unfold to reveal a series of new text.

We used 4 chain hoists to lift the structure and hold it in place while we bolted it together.  The decking is a series of platforms that were bolted together.  We built all three levels and stacked them on one another and lifted them all at once.  When we got to the approximate height of the first level we brought our column units and bolted them to the structure.  We would then re hook our span sets to the next level and continue  lifting.
This platform in the rear was made to be the band stand.  It need to hold numerous people on it as well as hold an upright piano.
Here you can see more detailed pictures of how we lifted the unit and built it.
This is a photo on the paint deck of all the platforms waiting to be painted.
