This effect called for a sea monster to raise up out of the water and grab the mast of a ship and pull it down. This was a hydraulic system that had three axes. At each joint there was a double acting cylinder and a sprocket. Roller chain wrapped the sprocket and terminated to the cylinder. On each end of each cylinder there were flow control valves that allowed for adjustment in speed. | |

| In the photo above you can see the pump. From the pump we charged two accumulators which actually ran the piece during the show. We had about 2 minutes of motion before the accumulators drained. |
