| This show ended up being quite a challenge because the bid was significantly over budget. The build of this show was delayed to discuss changes and cuts. While a standard build for a show at Williamstown is about 12 days, this resulted in this show having to be built and painted in 6 days. |

| In the photo to the right there is a shutter unit downstage left. This unit was approximately 20' tall and both shutter doors were functional. In the position that they are shown in the photo, they impede the fire curtain. Fly space was tight so a flying in pivot idea was out of the question. We addressed this issue by hanging a piece of ADC 220 Track across the stage and tieing it off to the midrail. On the track we hung a flat that was approx 28'tall. At the base we built a track that captured the flat and kept it in the same US/DS plane. We then took the shutter flat and hinged that to the initial flat. Putting a caster on the DS corner of the shutters, we now had a unit that could fold parallel to the plaster line and allow the fire curtain to come in, and to track off when the scene was finished. | ||

The main column structure included eight columns. Each column had extremely detailed molding on it on three of the four sides. To save money all the mouldings were build ups of products carried locally, replicating those carried by Dykes. We formed an assembly line where one carpenter just followed the next with each step. | |

| Between each column, there were these flying bamboo panels that would play in various positions. The bamboo was a rolled product that shipped from New Jersey. Each panel is just a pine outer frame with the bamboo stapled to it. We covered all the edges with 1/4 luan to clean things up. The three panels on the right on both the US and DS sets of panels were clued together. All the rigging for this spot lined. All the panels were cable guided as well. |
